México: Live it, Love it
What is the blog?
This site is dedicated to all things Mexican- People, places, food, pictures, uniqueness, experiences & the overall awesomeness! ¡Qué Viva México!
There is only one México and so many things to share!
Who are we, the bloggers?
We are Chad and Nettie, two Mexican travelers, Mexican enthusiasts, and lovers of all things Mexican. We met in 2009 during a student teaching experience for high school Spanish. We had an instant connection. Our professional relationship grew into a strong friendship. Our top two things in common, food and México! We spend so much time discussing the smallest occurrences or a new Spanish/Mexican word we hear or a new dish or recipe or a cool new place to visit, etc. Essentially via e-mails and conversations we have been blogging since 2009, but we decided to make it official, network, and finally start a blog.
A little about Chad-
After falling in love with Spanish class during my freshman year in high school, I chose to continue studying Spanish through college to become a Spanish teacher. After studying Spanish in the U.S. and spending a semester at the Universidad de Guanajuato I took a teaching job and taught all levels of Spanish for 13 years. After traveling to many Spanish-speaking countries, my heart belonged to Mexico. I have traveled extensively throughout the country, but my favorite regions are Jalisco, Michoacán, Guanajuato and the Yucatán Peninsula. I left my teaching job and moved to Mexico where I continue to be a lifelong learner of the language and culture of Mexico while I enjoy my favorite Mexican things- food, architecture, telenovelas, history and well, the list could continue. Nettie and I love to share our experiences and decided it would be exciting to enter the blogging world to share our passion.
A little about Nettie-
My first Mexican experience was in my high school Spanish class with a teacher from Puebla, Mexico. He would play us classic Mexican music on his acoustic guitar during our class work time. From my high school days to becoming a high school Spanish teacher, I experienced what I call, Mexican awesomeness. I learned the “fun” Spanish words and Mexicanisms at my catering job, studied abroad in Morelia, Michoacán, worked as a Spanish-English medical interpreter, I even married Mexican! J
I eat, breathe, and live all things Mexican. My tortilla press, my telenovelas (I order the Spanish T.V. package just for my novelas), Radio Latina blaring on my radio as I drive….Mexico has absolutely captivated me. My hope is that through our blog, the uniqueness, quirkiness, and awesomeness of México captivates you, the reader.
